1961 March - Bolivia. Near the Aymara village of Irpachico on the Andean altiplano at 12,460 feet (3,800 metres). Irpachico was about 19 miles (30 kilometres) from the capital, La Paz and people had gathered from nearby settlements for a fiesta to celebrate the donation of school equipment and a playground. I followed the celebration shooting movie film as the villagers headed for home. There was no way they were in danger on this railway track as a train passed only three or four times a week.

Camera MPP Microflex Twin Lens Reflex with F3.5 77.5mm Taylor Taylor Hobson lens - yellow filter 1x. Film Kodak Verichrome Pan at F8 - 1/300 second. Developed by hand in La Paz, using May and Baker Promicrol at normal dilution.
