1961 April - Bolivia. On the Altiplano, the high plain near Laja a few miles south of Lake Titicaca. I was recording the work of a university expedition and we were based at a decaying Spanish farm close to the lake. Large groups of llamas were a common sight as they were taken by the Aymara herders to walled compounds where they were kept for the night.
