1967 La Paz, Bolivia. An American-built Shay cog-drive steam locomotive of the FLPB (Ferrocarril La Paz Beni). This type of geared locomotive was used originally on a short railway line over the steep slopes of the eastern Andes. By 1967 the line had been dismantled and the locomotive consigned to the railway sheds.
