1960 September - Iran. Khorasan, near the border with Afghanistan. Here the dry steppe gave hardly enough for grazing at ths time of the year. But these two shepherds were there with their dog and a small flock of fat-tailed karakul sheep. This is at the edge of Central Asia,the Silk Road and the way to Samarkand that in 1960 was part of the Soviet Uinion of Socialist Republics and barred to most travellers.

Camera MPP Microflex Twin Lens Reflex with F3.5 77.5mm Taylor Taylor Hobson lens. Yellow filter 1x Film Kodak Verichrome Pan at F8 - 1/ 250 second. Developed by hand in a village in India using May and Baker Promicrol at normal dilution with water from the local well.
